Arts Alive 2011 prepares for brilliant Jazz on the Lake concert

Preparations are entering their closing stages for this year's Jazz on the Lake - a highlight of Joburg's springtime and a wonderful day out for Gautengers of all ages.

Taking place on Sunday September 4th at Zoo Lake, Parkview, Jazz on the Lake features a stunning line-up of artists, covering a wide spectrum of music tastes.

Singer Xoliswa Dlamini is joined by award-winning vocalist Melanie Scholtz, pop outfit, Watershed, the riveting Indian act, Rajasthan Rocks, Afro-dub pioneers, 340ml, jazz musician Victor Ntoni and top international Nigerian singer-songwriter, Asa.

Jazz on the Lake 2011 is FREE for concertgoers, as part of the City Of Joburg's spring "gift" to its residents and visitors through the annual Joburg Arts Alive International Festival. Alongside the sterling line-up of artists, excellent stage and sound and other amenities to ensure the comfort of those attending will be on offer.

This year, Jazz on the Lake starts at 10:00am sharp and ends at 5:30pm. Concertgoers are allowed to bring picnic baskets but no alcohol, glass, sharp objects and firearms are permitted. In addition, those attending the show should note that all cars illegally parked or in front of residents will be towed away

To ensure a good experience for both concergoers and residents, Arts Alive organisers, Zanusi Brand Solutions, have overseen a Jazz on the Lake Concert's Technical Team that includes the Arts Alive Co-ordinating Committee, representatives of SAPS, community members and others.

One of the measures that will be in place on Sunday September 4th is the barricades which will be erected in and around the Zoo Lake area. Park and Ride Facilities will be available at UJ Kingsway Campus, UJ Soweto Campus, Metro Centre, Braamfontein and Alex Stadium and those attending the 2011 Jazz on the Lake are urged to make use of these.

Residents who live within the barricaded area will receive 2 permits per household. Passes can be collected from the caravan stall at the Parkview Police Station from August 20th to September 4th (between 08:00am and 8:00pm and on September 4th until 08:00am). Residents can also collect resident permits at the Rosebank Police Station on September 4th. Residents must be in possession of their ID document and proof of residence (i.e. electricity bill) when collecting the passes. The emergency contact number on the day is 073 089 6151.
